Gracie and Sam

I have to share this story because it was very entertaining to me.  Earlier this week I was getting ready to read the kids a bedtime story and as I was opening the Bible Story book, Gracie randomly asked me if Satan ever lived in Heaven.  I told her yes but he was kicked out of Heaven for disobeying God. Then in her precious 4 year old thought process, she asked how he was kicked out of Heaven.  " Did he just fall out of the sky?"  I did not have the exact answer for her which is always great. Then she asked if Satan was a boy or a girl. I told her I was not exactly sure but I assumed a boy.  Sam then says, " OH! He is a boy because he has a beard.  ???  This was confusing so I asked him how he knew that.  He said there was a picture of him in his Bible and he had a beard.  I told him to go and get his Bible because I wanted to see it.  So he did and he turned to the page where Jesus is being handed over to the people and they want Barabbas.  I told him he was mistaken and that it was Barabbas. He refused to agree and so I told him to go ask daddy. He did and daddy said the same thing.  So, he came back and told me that daddy had agreed with him that it was Satan.  I then read the story to him and since he can read I pointed out Barabbas's name. He just smiled that "Oh dang, I am wrong" smile.  It was a great moment.

The next day Sam had gone to play with his friend, Will McCullough after school.  Scott brought him back and the kids were all playing outside.  Now, Charlie LOVES Mr. Scott and will follow him wherever he goes.  He asked Scott to sit down and play horses with him.  Scott was nice to agree. Then he kept on asking him to play every time Scott tried to get up.  So, I thought I would distract him and show him the cows across the street and how they had new babies.  BACKFIRE!  He then begged Mr. Scott to take him over to see them.  Scott being the nice guy he is agreed.  I sat there in shock.  It was not a quick walk over. So Scott, Charlie and Gracie went to see the new cows.  Scott later told me that they had to stop and pick some flowers on the way back. This is Gracie's favorite thing to do outside.  She gets it from me. I love flowers.  So, she told Scott, " We have to stop and get some purple flowers for my mommy because she is my best friend."  WOW!  Does it get any better than that?  I loved this moment.
